Precautions for the use of single-layer PMMA

Single-layer PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), as a commonly used polymer material, requires attention to the following points when in use to ensure its performance and service life:

First, storage environment

Temperature and humidity control: PMMA has a certain degree of water absorption. When the humidity in the air reaches 80% and the temperature is above 23℃, the water absorption rate can reach 0.3% within 24 hours, causing expansion and deformation. Therefore, the storage environment should be controlled under conditions of temperature between 18 and 26℃ and humidity between 40 and 55%. Special attention should be paid especially during the high-temperature and high-humidity season from March to September in the south.

Ventilation and drying: Materials should be stored in a clean, dry and well-ventilated place, away from heat sources and damp environments to prevent the materials from deforming due to moisture or causing other adverse effects.

Second, pre-treatment before use

Pre-baking: Before screen printing, it is recommended to pre-bake the PMMA board at a temperature of 45℃ for 15 to 20 minutes. This step helps dry the moisture absorbed by the board and prevents the ink from getting larger or smaller during the screen printing process.

Reduce the screen printing temperature: When baking the last layer of screen printing ink, it is recommended to lower the temperature from the conventional 60℃ to 55℃ to reduce the deformation of the board.

Third, processing and installation

Protective film treatment: After the screen printing baking, the original protective film should be replaced as soon as possible, and a cutting film should be covered on the screen printing surface. Press it flat with a heavy object and let it stand for 6 to 10 hours to make the board flat. Meanwhile, during the processing and installation, it is necessary to pay attention to protecting the surface of the board to avoid scratches.

Dimensional tolerance: Due to the expansion of PMMA boards under high temperature and humidity conditions, with a maximum expansion of 8C-15C, it is recommended to reserve a negative tolerance of approximately 8C when cutting the product to prevent the product size from being too large to fit during installation.

Fourth, usage and maintenance

Temperature limit: The heat distortion temperature of ordinary PMMA boards is approximately 100℃, and the continuous service temperature should not exceed 85℃. When used in high-temperature environments, special attention should be paid to its heat resistance.

Cleaning and maintenance: The surface of PMMA boards is prone to dust accumulation. When cleaning, a soft cotton cloth dipped in 1% soapy water can be used to wipe. Be careful not to wipe with hard objects or rough fabrics to avoid scratching the surface.

Static protection: PMMA boards are prone to generating static electricity and attracting dust. During processing and use, appropriate static electricity protection measures should be taken, such as maintaining an appropriate environmental humidity and using anti-static tools.
